The Olive Oil Source

The Olive Oil Source website was originally developed as a reliable resource for information about growing olive trees and producing olive oil by John and Lisa Deane. In April 2008, the Deanes sold their business to Shawn and Antoinette who had first became involved in the olive oil industry when they inherited an olive orchard in the South of France from Antoinette’s father. In 2002, they had created Figueroa Farms in the Santa Ynez Valley and immediately made their presence known in the industry. They planted thousands of trees on their property, which they farmed organically and powered with a photovoltaic system, and managed some neighboring farms as well. In 2003, they purchased a state-of-the-art Pieralisi olive mill.

While Shawn and Antoinette both have graduate degrees from the Food Research Institute at Stanford University, it is their further work in real-world business and their experience as farmers and millers that inform decisions at the Olive Oil Source. Our product selection process is highly critical as we set the bar against one simple question, “Would we purchase this for our own operation or ingestion?”  As olive oil producers, we know what it’s like to have the pressure of olive harvest upon you, and we know how critical high-quality, reliable equipment is to a successful season.
