|Umberto Chironi was raised in Lecce in the Puglia region of Italy, one of the oldest
olive regions in the world, Umberto developed a respect and love for the
noble fruit at an early age.
In 1993, Umberto met Professor Giuseppe Fontanazza, an Italian agronomist
and reseracher. Armed with both the research and enthusaism of the
professor, Umberto migrated to Calfironia with both focus and the cultivars.
Founding Olivi Nursery, Umberto now has 60 old world cultivars from which he
can prodce cuttings to order however he promotes the SHD cultivars Favalosa, Don Carlo and Allegra which are bred not only for their low vigor, which makes them suitable for the over the row mechanical harvester but also for early (2 to 3 years) production and great
olive oil quality.
